At this stage, the Fed is still attempting to normalize interest rates rather than slow the economy to cool inflationary pressures.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Projected GDP\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.incrediblecharts.com\/images\/2017\/2017-03-11-gdp.png?w=525&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Projected GDP\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wage rate growth remains muted, at close to 2.5 percent, so rate hikes are likely to proceed at a gradual pace.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Hourly Wage Rates and Money Supply\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.incrediblecharts.com\/images\/2017\/2017-03-11-wagerates-ms.png?w=525&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Hourly Wage Rates and Money Supply\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The need to tighten monetary policy is only likely to be seriously considered when wage rate growth [light green] exceeds 3.0 percent [dark green line].
